Mission Statement
Our Mission
The Aiki Institute of Spokane is dedicated to furthering the teachings of the founder of Aikido, Morihei Ueshiba, using the methodology passed on by Toyoda shihan, and to developing new opportunities that expose people to the transformative spirit of Aiki, creating a community living in harmony.
How We Manifest This
We accomplish these goals by; providing high quality training in traditional martial and aesthetic arts, taking the foundations of these trainings and adapting them to the needs of our community in creative and engaging programs, and providing leadership by example.
The Ki Center provides a setting for training in traditional martial arts such as Aikido, Kendo, Iaido, Karate; movement arts such as Yoga, Qi Gong, Tai Chi; aesthetic arts including Ikebana, Shodo, Sumi-e; and meditative arts. Future plans include the incorporation of healing practices such as massage therapy, acupuncture, and various forms of traditional healing, wellness, and energy centering arts.
We develop and implement workshops and programs providing creative solutions to conflict, communication, support of mental health, reduction of addictions, community building, leadership, and potential realization.
Staff and students are encouraged to provide community service in the form of volunteering in the local community and are challenged to incorporate their training in the simple actions that make up every day life, thus leading society into creating a more peaceful and healthy community, nation, and world.
